| Argument | Required | What it means |
|---|---|---|
array_formula | Yes | A range, an expression using same-sized ranges, or a function that returns multiple cells. |
Examples
Calculate line totals
| A | B | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Qty | Price |
| 2 | 2 | 10 |
| 3 | 5 | 7 |
| 4 | 3 | 8 |
=ARRAYFORMULA(A2:A4*B2:B4)Result: 20; 35; 24
The expression multiplies each quantity by the price on the same row and spills three results.
Common mistakes
Using ranges with different sizes in one expression.
Use ranges with matching row and column dimensions.
Placing values in cells where the array result needs to expand.
Clear the output area so the result can fill neighboring cells.
